Beginning Guitar?

I want to start learning how to play guitar. Any suggestions on which one I should get? Preferably, an electric one. Also, any tips on books or other items I should get would be very helpful. Thank you.

of course acoustic dude i mean at first i though about electric because it was cool but found out that acoustic is a good guitar to get when your beggining and common who the freak uses base any way

ok you will have to start with an acoustic or acoustic/electric and you%26#039;ll want to go to a music store and buy the hal leonard book 1,2, and 3 and just go through them yourself or with a teacher
Reply:yeah uh dude start with an accoustic guitar first. um for the most part almost any guitar will help you out to learn, but never hesitate to ask the salesperson which one they would recommend for a beginner. and well um any book with a good selection of chords and rhythm patterns and even possibly a cd to demoinstrate the exercises would be good enough for beginning. also there are a lot of sites set up to help people learn guitar don%26#039;t be afraid to check them out. some aren%26#039;t that great but there are a lot of good ones. so make sure you check the site closely to see if it is really worth looking at to learn something.
Reply:I gotta say acoustic as well. I learnt on an acoustic for a good year before I got an electric and when I got my electric, i found the learning curve on it so much easier because the strings are easier to fret, etc.


I read a few leasons on http://guitar.about.com/library/blguitar... and also got a book called K.I.S.S Guide To Playing Guitar. They were good for me but real lessons from teachers is the best way to go.

Reply:Definitely start with an acoustic. Learn all the chords first. That will make the electric a breeze

i%26#039;ve been playin just a little short while and it%26#039;s wat they reccommend for beginners. you can always trade your acoustic later on if you want an electric. this is the acoustic/electric that i got.
